On arrival in Bangkok, transfer to your hotel then meet your tour leader and group for welcome drinks. Walk the streets of bustling Bangkok and float along the Chao Phraya River on a charming longtail boat to discover the sparkling Grand Palace and Wat Arun. Enjoy some free time, perhaps indulging in world-class shopping or sampling delicious Thai cuisine.

Leave Bangkok's bustle behind and head to the beautiful River Kwai region. Visit an elephant sanctuary that cares for rehabilitated and aging elephants in a peaceful environment. This wonderful experience allows you to learn about these magnificent animals while you prepare their food, feed and bathe them. Reflect on the rich and turbulent history of the region, as you head to Hellfire Pass and the Bridge over the River Kwai.

Drive to Thailand's historic capital, Ayuthaya to explore the fascinating collection of temples. Return to Bangkok for your flight to Chiang Mai. Spend a free day getting to know Thailand's cultural capital, perhaps strolling the Old Town and exploring markets and temples.
The next day, visit the community-based project of Mae Klang Luang Ecotourism Community in Doi Inthanon, and enjoy a jungle trek passing beautiful scenery and waterfalls. Try your hand in the terraced rice fields and meet the local children in the nursery school. Move on to Doi Suthep, and admire the stunning views from its temple. Enjoy a dinner with fellow group members.

Travel to Chiang Rai in the mysterious Golden Triangle, your departure point for Laos and two day slow boat trip down the rugged upper Mekong. Spend your first night in magical Laos in the rustic trading town of Pakbeng, in accommodation perched on the edge of the mighty Mekong.

Embark on a short jungle elephant trek, then cruise onwards to the Pak Ou Caves and its eerie Buddha statues. Glide in to beautiful Luang Prabang, a treasure-chest of architecture and culture, and your base for three nights. Explore highlight sites on foot, including the exquisite Royal Palace and the graceful Wat Mai and Xieng Thong temples.
Take part in a leisurely game of petanque, and indulge in sunset mocktails in riverside temple grounds. Savor a delicious local noodle breakfast with a brew of French coffee, be calmed by the serene sight of monks collecting alms at dawn, and spend an evening at a fun cooking class in a beautiful rural setting. Prepare your own traditional food for a picnic at the scenic Kuang Si Falls, and have ample free time to explore Luang Prabang's alleyways, alluring architecture, boutiques and cafes.

Fly to Vientiane, the Lao capital. Visit the grand Patuxai monument for panoramic city views, and the COPE Center - to learn about the tragic after-effects of Indochina's 'Secret War'. Sample a famous Lao coffee in a local café, explore gilded That Luang and antique Wat Sisaket temples, and have free time for personal discoveries. In the evening, be blessed at a baci ceremony and be treated to a traditional music performance over a delicious 'jaew' dinner in a local house.

Fly to Yangon. Take a short walk to see the city's British-colonial architecture and the Indian Quarter, as well as the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda. Fly to Heho and transfer to Inle Lake. Visit a morning market where hilltribe people gather.
Continue on to the Phaung Daw Oo Ou Pagoda, the lake's main sanctuary, which contains five Sacred Buddha images. Learn about local crafts at a weaving village, silversmith and a cheroot 'factory', and see how typical Burmese cigars are made by hand. Explore Pa-oh village of In Dein on foot and see the beautiful ruined ancient stupas of Alaung Sitthou.

Transfer to Heho for a morning flight to Bagan. The city is famous for plains filled with thousands of beautiful temples. A half-day tour includes Shwezigon Pagoda and the famous Ananda Temple, before a sunset view over the stunning vistas of Bagan from atop a beautiful terraced pagoda.
Visit Minnathu Village for an insight into local life, and move on to see the imposing 12th century Dhammayazika Paya. Discover the local handicrafts at a workshop, and enjoy a farewell dinner in the evening. On your last day, spend time at leisure until your departure transfer.
